Screen Captures Video Via the Web

Posted by Wrench , in Misc 17 August 2010 · 1 views

I constantly use screen captures and movies for training tools. I enjoy using CBTs to learn from and to teach from. Unfortunately there are very few choices for Desktop Recording. TechSmith Camtasia is an excellent program but it's also a very expensive one. http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp -->Camtasia by TechSmith The free alternative is Camstudio, http://camstudio.org/ -->CamStudio.(Camstudio.org)

These are great apps and I use them all the time. There are several problems with these two programs.

1. Cost of Licensing
2. Installation of the Programs
3. Compatibility of Codecs.(This is not the biggest issue in the world)

Not every one can afford Camtasia Licences to be installed endlessly and why would you want to. CamStudio is a great program but it requires some additional tweaks and in my experience it doesn't work right every time. Also you need to install these programs, what happens if you don't have readily available or you simply don't want too or can't install them on the machine you want.

What if there was an alternative.

In my work I sometimes go to clients and need to record my work or do some training videos and I need to complete them quickly.

Rejoice there is an alternative. All you need is a web browser and an internet connection.

I've recently started using ScreenToaster http://www.screentoaster.com/ -->ScreenToaster Website. Its free  and its easy to use and its quick.

Now you can make your own CBT's that include video media.

Well there are 2 options,

1. ScreenToaster
2. Camtasia (cracked) :P
