Will try to answer when I get a chance! here we go!

7. How to restart ESX Management Agent?

Restarting the Management agents on ESXi

You can restart using below methods,

1. From the Direct Console User Interface (DCUI)
2. From the Local Console or SSH:

  • Log in to SSH or Local console as root.

  • Run these commands:

    /etc/init.d/hostd restart
      /etc/init.d/vpxa restart

  • Alternatively, to restart all management agents on the host, run the command:

      services.sh restart

10. iSCSI Software initiator port number?

Ans: 3260 TCP

12. What is scratch partition?

Ans: The scratch partion is a 4 GB VFAT partition that is created on a target device that has sufficient space available and is considered “Local” by ESXi.

The scratch partition is used for a couple of things:

* Store vm-support output (if scratch partition is unavailable the output will be stored in memory)
* During first boot the partition will be configured through syslog for retaining logfiles
* Userworld swapfile (when enabled)

The scratch partition is created and configured during ESXi installation or the autoconfiguration phase when the ESXi server first boots.
