I'm just kinda ill I got lied to by several people I trusted.  But, it's nice to have confirmation one way or the other.

I was more irritated yesterday that I found out I could buy a used EX-2200 switch for $400,  but was told on the J-Net forums that I'd need a mere $1000 license to enable all the features.  O_o

if it helps anyone seems we get no interface PIC when running pre 14.2 images that don't require two VMs one for VCP and one for VFP

Working one (shows ge interface terse)

Junos: 14.1R4.8
root# run show chassis fpc pic-status
Slot 0   Online       Virtual FPC
PIC 0  Online       Virtual 10x1GE PIC

Non working one (does not show ge interfaces in terse)

Junos: 14.1R5.4
[email protected]# run show chassis fpc pic-status
Slot 0   Online       Virtual FPC

what's interesting in my tests we're that I can use em interface in the non-working version without a PIC and I'm able to establish LDP/OSPF peering's but downside came when I tried to assign an em interface into a routing-instance vrf and it just fails for MPLS L3 VPN.

LDP isn't supported before 14.1 R5 hence 14.1 R4.8 doesn't cut it
