hello guys,

I hope somebody could help me with that. Maybe I do something wrong. To simulate L3 switches, I use i86bi_linux_l2-advipservicesk9-ms.nov3_2015_high_iron.bin. So I have below topology:

Server1---SW111----SW101---R11

On SW1 I created SVI in vlan 2001, 10.1.201.111/24. Link to user is configured as access port:

interface Ethernet0/0
switchport access vlan 2001
switchport mode access
duplex auto
end

Server 1 has default GW to SVI:

Server1#sh ip ro
...

Gateway of last resort is 10.1.201.111 to network 0.0.0.0

S* 0.0.0.0/0 [1/0] via 10.1.201.111
10.0.0.0/8 is variably subnetted, 2 subnets, 2 masks
C 10.1.201.0/24 is directly connected, Ethernet0/0
L 10.1.201.100/32 is directly connected, Ethernet0/0

And I can ping it:

Server1# ping 10.1.201.111
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.1.201.111, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/2/5 ms
Server1#

Now, SW111 and SW101 are connected via ospf:

SW111#sh ip ospf nei

...
10.1.101.101   1   FULL/BDR 00:00:38 10.1.21.1    Ethernet1/0   <------------------

ospf config is here - on both SW looks the same:

router ospf 65001
network 10.1.0.0 0.0.255.255 area 0

now when look RIB in SW111, Vlan2001 is there as connected:

SW111#sh ip ro conn
...

Gateway of last resort is not set

...
C 10.1.201.0/24 is directly connected, Vlan2001
L 10.1.201.111/32 is directly connected, Vlan2001

And I can see 10.1.201.0/24  in ospf database as router LSA:

SW111#sh ip ospf dat

OSPF Router with ID (10.1.111.111) (Process ID 65001)

Router Link States (Area 0)

10.1.11.11   10.1.11.11   288 0x80000006 0x0081C5 4
10.1.12.12   10.1.12.12   288 0x80000005 0x007363 3

10.1.201.100 10.1.201.100 517 0x80000001 0x001F1B 1

In SW101, I see 10.1.201.0/24 in RIB:

SW101#sh ip ro 10.1.201.100
Routing entry for 10.1.201.0/24
Known via "ospf 65001", distance 110, metric 11, type intra area

  Routing Descriptor Blocks:
  * 10.1.21.2, from 10.1.111.111, 00:06:42 ago, via Ethernet1/0
Route metric is 11, traffic share count is 1

And in  is ospf dat:

SW101#sh ip ospf dat

OSPF Router with ID (10.1.101.101) (Process ID 65001)

10.1.12.12   10.1.12.12   331 0x80000005 0x007363 3

10.1.15.15   10.1.15.15   150 0x80000004 0x00A514 3
10.1.100.100 10.1.100.100 148 0x80000009 0x007610 7
10.1.101.101 10.1.101.101 139 0x8000000C 0x00B7D7 8

10.1.111.111 10.1.111.111 141 0x80000015 0x00B522 7
10.1.201.100 10.1.201.100 564 0x80000001 0x001F1B 1

And in fact, I can not ping server:

SW101#ping 10.1.201.100
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.1.201.100, timeout is 2 seconds:
...

SW101#ping 10.1.201.100 so lo0
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.1.201.100, timeout is 2 seconds:
Packet sent with a source address of 10.1.101.101
...

Anybody has idea why it is happen? Is it simulation issue?

Now, after I change link connected to server on SW111 to router port, issue is solved:

SW111(config)#no int vlan 2001
SW111(config)#int e0/0
SW111(config-if)#no sw
SW111(config-if)#no switchport
SW111(config-if)#ip add
*Mar 21 08:39:48.910: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Ethernet0/0, changed state to up
SW111(config-if)#ip add 10.1.201.111 255.255.255.0

SW101#  ping 10.1.201.100 so lo0
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.1.201.100, timeout is 2 seconds:
Packet sent with a source address of 10.1.101.101
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/4/5 ms
SW101#

1. Topic title is misleading
2. turn off "ip cef" on switches

Yes, topic should be different but I can not change it :( I wrote that too fast.

Hm, I turned off ip cef and it worked - is it a bug for this IOS? Normally ip cef should speed up switching process and conserve CPU.
