For R40, I have two solutions. Please can someone tell me if both solutions are correct or only one solution is correct. I find solution 1 easier to remember because I can apply same filter list to all four routers, but not sure if this is correct or not.

Solution 1:

ip as-path access-list 1 permit ^$

route-map ASPATH permit 10
set as-path prepend 65004 65004

router bgp 65004
neighbor 100.40.0.1 route-map ASPATH out
neighbor 100.40.0.1 filter-list 1 out

Solution 2:

ip as-path access-list 1 permit ^$

route-map ASPATH permit 10
match as-path 1
set as-path prepend 65004 65004

router bgp 65004
neighbor 100.40.0.1 route-map ASPATH out

Hello,

Both are perfectly valid. Which one to use will depend on the wording of the question.

If they say make sure site x it is not used as transit and do not use route-maps to achieve the solution, your choice is option 1.

If they don’t put any restriction you can use the one you prefer.

Solution 2 is correct, s1 will not have any affect (useless) as you are not matching any thing in route-map.

I'm not sure if still need to apply nei  filter 1 out as well or not, will check it and confirm
