I passed PMP today

It was hard. The hardest part was finishing all 200q on time and stay concentrated and follow dynamic of 50q brake 50q brake 50q brake 50q review

I used Ritas book, PMBOK, Head First, solved 3000+ questions (Fastrack twice + 8 mock based test + other small tests)

There is no dumps so the most similar question on exam are PMStudy and Fastrack but I will say maybe 5-10% harder toward Oliver Lehmanns (concentrates on the edge of the PMBOK - exact sentences about something that you can even remember exist in the book) tests.

Congrats for your achievement.

I see you are Cisco Certified, Could you compare its difficulty with i.e CCNP?

How many hours of studying it requires? Is Rita's Book sufficient?

Thanks. I would rather compare it with CCNA. CCNP has 4 exams and is totally different story.

It took me about 300h of study time. Maybe less maybe more I didn't count.

The exam is huge and was more difficult than CCNA (took me about 5 months of study 6 years ago). Cisco exams can't be compared with PMP because they have dumps.

Cisco takes time and when you are ready take the dumps and pass, PMP requires strategy.

No only Rita is not enough, PMBOK must be read at least once - it's boring but all what you need is there.

I will compare it with CCIE lab exam in year or two.

Please continue your discussion in a thread on it's own instead of hijacking the "i passed" thread.

I passed PMP new exam last month. Kept meaning to logon and advise.

Read

Head first -- use this to get basic knowledge

Rita new version

Practice questions. Head first, Rita, Oliver leahman and Fastrack v6. Didnt need to use v7 and I couldn't find it anywhere.

The exam is much easier than the prep for it lol. I read that before and I realize it's true. The exam isn't super difficult. I market some 60 questions as unsure. You need to memorize the formulas, but more importantly you need to know how to use them. There is a few study notes KIM is one of them.. that I used.. Spent 3weeks studying. I believe had I spent longer. I would have retained more information. Studying in a short period has a cost.

I took and passed the PMP exam on the first try back in 2011. I took and passed 640-802 exam back in Sept, 8 2012 and

I will tell you that I studied more for the CCNA and that I had a harder time on the CCNA exam vs the PMP exam.

I'm not saying that the PMP is easy. First of all you have to qualify to sit for the exam. Not every Tom, Dick and Harry

will qualify because PMI requires you to have experience and also wants you to document your experience and submit it to them.

You will also be AUDITED if anything looks suspicious on your application and work experience. Additionally, PMI requires

you to have 35 hours of project management education.

If your application is approved, your reward is that you get to sit for a 4-hr 200 grueling questions.

With respect to the CCNA, anyone can apply for the exam even if you don't have the experience. What I found difficult

about the CCNA was that there was just too much to cover (learn) all at one time. Also, I didn't like the fact that you can't

go back and review your answers. Lastly, you need a freegin 825-850 to pass the test.

hi,

i passed my pmp exam today, it was my first try and i did it.. the exam was difficult and the time was very tight it takes me 3 h 40 m to finish without revision..

lot of problems in time and cost earned value calculations... and quality and risk theories.

the exam was based on 5th edition. i used head first 4th edition and cover it by PMPOK 5th edition, and used rita fast track ...

the key is>>> think like a project manger... i mean like ideal one... don't involve ur mentality in judging the situations...

cheers,
