Problems with Switch Management

Recommended Posts

Switch - 3750. I've configured vlan1 for management.

int vlan1

ip address 192.168.1.254 255.255.255.0

no shutdown

and this works fine.

However, hardly had I configured ports as a part of some vlan, the connection between workstations and switch lost and and got this message when trying to telnet to switch:

PC>telnet 192.168.1.254

Trying 192.168.1.254 ...

% Connection timed out; remote host not responding

What is the reason of this?

did you configure the port gong to your PC in a different VLAN? If that is the case you need to add this configuration on your switch

ip default-gateway [iP ADDRESS OF YOUR ROUTER INTERFACE PHYSICALLY CONNECTED TO YOUR SWITCH]
