So, here's the steps for how to get CloudLink working. It's actually a bit easier than HyTrust to be honest...

The steps, in short, are add a script to /usr/local/bin/openssl, chmod +x it, then generate and install a license. To do the first, there are two options (You can pick which is easier for you).

Option 1: Single user mode.

To do this, get into single user mode: Boot the machine, then hammer esc until you see the grub selection menu. While still selecting Ubuntu, press e to get into the edit prompt.

Now, scroll down using your arrow keys until you see the line with linux /vmlinuz. It should be the second last one. You'll need to add init=/bin/bash to the end of the line, after consoleblank=0.

After that hit F10. After a second, you'll be in a bash prompt. Now, you'll need to run a few commands and paste in a script.

mount -o remount,rw /

cat > /usr/local/bin/openssl # This is where you paste in the script! Use Ctrl+D to finish.

chmod +x /usr/local/bin/openssl

umount /

Reboot the machine (you can't use reboot / poweroff because it's single user mode)

Option 2: A linux ISO.

Boot your linux iso of choice, and simply mount /dev/sda10 (or whatever the disk is: partition 10) to a folder. Then do much the same as above: paste in the script below to /where/you/mounted/it/usr/local/bin/openssl, chmod +x it, umount it, and reboot.

Congrats, it now doesn't have any validation. Here's the script:

#!/bin/sh

if [ "$#" = "9" ] && [ "$1" = "rsautl" ] && [ "$2" = "-verify" ]; then

cp "$7" "$9"

else

/usr/bin/openssl "[email protected]"

fi

It's OK if there are extra lines, so go ahead and paste it into your terminal.

Now you can upload a license. It's all just base64 encoded text that describes limits: Security was bypassed with the script above. I've generated a few that should cover all types, but if you need changes just base64 decode and edit as needed. To see details on how each is decoded, check out /opt/vcg/jetty/webapps/cloudlink.war/cloudlink-engine-1.0.jar/com/aforesolutions/goldengate/engine/service/license/LicenseServiceBean.class.

Just save each base64 encoded string as a file and upload (either during setup or in System/License).

As before, I don't really have any stuff to really test it with at the moment, so feel free to post if it doesn't work.

Hi Newbie,

I tried the setp above, cannot upload the license. What's the file format of the license?
