According to VMware-recommended best practices, on which cluster should each of the services be placed?

Answer:

Management: DNS, VCSA ,AD Domain, NTP Servers

Resource: MS Exchange MS SQL Apache Web

On the fence about VCSA as I think SQL could be part of MGMT also.

My note: This includes (not all may be applicable to every site); active directory (or similar), DNS/DHCP, general management server (for Network and SAN tools etc.), vCenter server, database server for management databases, web client server, single sign-on server, Site Recovery Manager; vSphere replication server, vCenter operations manager (and other components of the Suite), vCloud Director cell (and related components), vCloud Networking and Security Manager, data protection servers (e.g. CommVault VSA).

I read the same article -

"The primary purpose of the management cluster is to separate the resources used to manage virtualisation workloads (i.e. any non-management workload, so this includes dev etc.) from those virtualisation workloads themselves. In the event of a site failure and subsequent recovery, the management cluster is the first thing you bring up. This means you can get the management functions back first and faster."

So from the above, what would need to bring up first to restore operations?

THESE FIRST --->>> Management: DNS, VCSA, AD Domain, NTP Servers

We don't need the below to restore operations. MS SQL isn't used by "VCSA". You notice they mentioned "VCSA" (vCenter Server Appliance) above? So we're obviously using PostgreSQL for vCenter. Similar with Apache Web...could be any old web server. Same with MS Exchange. Not required to restore operations.

THESE LAST --->>> Resource: MS Exchange, MS SQL, Apache Web

. I copied all the questions from this forum and compared them to the test I had purchase. I plan to take this test in the next week and really hoping the forums answers are correct because a few were wrong compared to the ones I looked on the one I purchased. This file has all the answer from the forums. I did not include the questions that people have said are not on the test.

Happy with the below for this Q:

Security = The integrity of transaction....

Performance = The transaction must be services ......

Availability = The service cannot be interrupted for more than ......

Manageability = The operation must be automated and scalable .....

Recoverability = The maximum RTO is two hours .......

Easy wins first.

The integrity of transaction.... - Security

The maximum RTO is two hours ....... - Recoverability [Recovery Time Objective (RTO)]

So 3 left...

Another easy win here.

The service cannot be interrupted for more than ...... - Availability

2 left now.

The transaction must be serviced in under 2ms - Performance

So leaves us the final piece of the puzzle...

The operation must be automated and scalable ..... - Manageability

Client CIO

- DR

- Cost

- Performance

Client CTO

- Business Continuity

- Data Integrity

Developer

- Performance

QUESTION 61

A company has one data center site running 50 hosts and 400 virtual machines and requires a  vSphere 6.x design.

1) The CIO wants to add a secondary site for Disaster Recovery (DR) with A hours RPO.

2) The application developer is concerned about anticipated growth as several new projects begin.

3) The CISO is worried about data leaks and theft.

4) The CTO would like to buy new servers with better specifications and higher consolidation ratio.

Determine the critical requirements for each of the key stakeholders. Some requirements might have more than one stakeholder.

Let's look at the requirements per stakeholder.

CIO

The CIO wants to add a secondary site for Disaster Recovery (DR) with A hours RPO. ("A" hours - probably 8 hours)

The CISO is worried about data leaks and theft.  ("CISO", should read "CIO")

Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Data Integrity

CTO

The CTO would like to buy new servers with better specifications and higher consolidation ratio.

Cost, Performance

DEVELOPER

The application developer is concerned about anticipated growth as several new projects begin.

To answer this, I rule out the incorrect ones

Disaster Recovery - "concerned about anticipated growth" nothing to do with DR

Business Continuity - "concerned about anticipated growth". No mention of keeping lights on

Data Integrity - "concerned about anticipated growth". Integrity of data not mentioned

Cost - "concerned about anticipated growth". No mention of costs in his concerns

Performance - "concerned about anticipated growth". Seems like the most logical answer

Risk DC facilities are at capacity and will need to be expanded

Requirement Existing change management guidelines..

Constraint App licensing costs must be minimized

Assumption vSphere 6.5 features will meet the...

Again, look for the easy wins first.

RISK - DC facilities are at capacity and will need to be expanded

WHY: "are at capacity" = RISK

2 of them look difficult - Existing change management guidelines must be followed AND App licensing costs must be minimized

SO, that gives us another answer

Assumption - vSphere 6.5 features will meet the...

So final 2...Existing change management guidelines must be followed AND App licensing costs must be minimized

These could go either way.

Which one is more of a requirement, which one is more of a constraint?

Requirement - Existing change management guidelines must be followed

WHY: Change Management guidelines SHOULD ALWAYS be followed

Constraint - App licensing costs must be minimized

WHY: Process of elimination

Performance Infrastructure must be properly provisioned to ensure application response time

Recoverability Design should require less than 5mins to restore after failure

Security WAN links between the data centers must be private

Manageability DCs should be administered by a centralized console

Availability Architecture must support Data center level resiliency

I am happy with the above.

QUESTION 63

A company is a leading provider for an online travel booking system with over a $1,000,000 turnover each day. The company warns to leverage VMware cloud solutions to consolidate, scale, and ensure high availability for all of its data centers.

Match each business requirement to its appropriate design concept.

Once again, easy wins first.

SECURITY - WAN link between the data centers must be private

RECOVERABILITY - Design should require less than 5 minutes to restore after failure

MANAGEBILITY - Datacenters should be administered by a centralised console

2 left...

PERFORMANCE - Infrastructure must be properly provisioned to ensure application response time

AVAILABILITY - Architecture must support datacenter level resilliency (process of elimination)

QUESTION 64

A leading steel manufacturer relies on SAP for purchase, sales, add invoice processing.

- It is planning to virtualize its severs to reduce CAPEX and OPEX.

- However, its CIO is concerned about the availability, performance, manageability, recoverability, and security for the SAP database and  ERP instance.

Match the business requirement with the appropriate design concept.

Easy wins first.

Security - The application data must be encrypted at REST

WHY: key word here is encrypted

Recoverability - The application must be restored in 30 minutes in case of disaster

WHY: key words in red above

The last 3 are a bit tougher

Manageability - The application must support clustering between physical and virtual machines

WHY: Dosen't sound like Performance, it COULD be Availability but it sounds more like a Managebility

Which leaves 2 more

Performance - The application must generate 200 invoices concurrently

WHY: Sounds like performance

"Performance NFRs relate to how well a system should respond. This can include specific IOPS requirements, response times for end users and so on"

Availability - The application must scale within 2 hours

WHY: Process of elimination

QUESTION 68

A global financial company has requested assistance with a new cross-site failover design  between two sites which will support business critical applications. Latency between the sites is less than 5ms round-trip.

The company requires:

- application must be restarted quickly in the event of a total site  failure

- allow for planned migration during maintenance

- applications must be kept online even when migrated due to planned  maintenance

Drag each statement to its correct concept

Hidden Content

Give reaction to this post to see the hidden content.

As I always say, easy wins first.

Risk - Application downtime will result in significant financial loss

Requirement - The product of the design must adhere to to regulatory compliance

WHY: "must adhere" meaning "requires"

Which leaves us 2 more in the puzzle.

Constraint- A limited number of storage solutions support vSphere Metro Storage Clustering

WHY: "limited number" which means it is constrained

Then by the proces of elimination we have our last one

Assumption - Latency between the two sites will remain at or below 5ms
