Hi,

You don't need to learn IT to be an IT Project Manager. The key to being a successful PM lies around the sections of the PM Body of Knowledge. Have strong communications skills, identify and manage key stakeholders, use the IT and business SME's (subject matter experts) to assist your time calculations for the duration of tasks to ensure you manage the schedule. Identify the risks, score and track them in the risk register, etc. etc.

Trying to become an IT expert whilst being a professional PM is not the best way to become a good PM.

HTH.
