who uses ekahau site planner?

Recommended Posts

use the auto planner to give you a general feel for what the ap density will look like (after you've built your walls, attenuation areas, device types, etc). Then move the APs around and add/subtract as needed.

Because any autoplanner is only as good as the assumptions you make about propagation (which can be very very wrong, especially where metal-framed or metal-backed partition walls exist) and limits upon deployment (example in my life is one that was placed in a steam room).

Typically I have a walk around, make the necessary measurements to calibrate a diagram - then make a copy of the project file - use one copy for a predictive survey to give me a feel for AP placement and then use the other to survey with an APoaS based on the prediction.
