  3. This error message is usually because the Intel E1000 network interfaces aren't discovered at the PCI bus address they're expected to be. What is your QEMU command line?
  4. The WLC uses the same licensing mechanism as recent IOS images (and IPS v7+), which is Safenet Sentinel. I have looked into it very briefly... in order to create your own licenses you will need the Sentinel SDK (includes wlcgen utility) as well as the secret seed information that is specific to Cisco. It's going to be a lot of work :-)

  6. The image you are running was created under VMware and the Intel Pro/1000 network interfaces were mapped specifically to the PCI bus addresses provided by the VMware virtual hardware. Since you're running under a QEMU/KVM environment, the E1000 interfaces will not be discovered properly during bootup. You will need to do the following (you need to know how to use the text editor 'vi'): 1. Log in to the IPS using account 'service' and password 'ciscoips123' 2. Type: vi /usr/cids/idsRoot/etc/interface.conf 3. Scroll down until you see the section [models/IPS-4240/interfaces] 4. Edit the "pci-path" section for each interface to match the QEMU PCI bus address of each NIC. QEMU E1000 bus addresses are usually: 3.0 4.0 5.0 6.0 7.0 5. Save the file and reboot the IPS sensor.   9. You will need the IPS 4260 recovery image (*.img) in order to install the proper system version from scratch. When your 4260 boots up, it will say "Evaluating BIOS Options...". At this point, hit CTRL + R and you will drop into ROMMON (like the Cisco ASA). From here, you can boot from the recovery image and it will install itself.

I've been hacking around with the Netscaler platform for many years, and this is really just an attempt to reproduce a fully functional SDX environment on non-Citrix-branded hardware for test lab purposes. I realize that the VPX is the heart and soul of the platform, but I'd like to be able to play around with the SVM environment and deploy non-Citrix virtual machines (ie. Blue Coat, Palo Alto, etc.) just for fun. And yes, I'm also interested in the process of offloading SSL services to add-in Cavium cards and playing with SR-IOV on the NICs. Long story short, I'd simply like to play with the platform but have neither the means or the funds to get my hands on a real SDX unit! U:H
  14. I need an image of the Service VM (exported as OVF from XenServer host would be ideal) so I can figure out how to get SDX propped up and running on non-Citrix hardware. Thanks U:H
  15. You're thinking about the ASA 1000V... this is a severely limited ASA meant for multitenant VM environments. Much of its functionality is disabled. UldisD is talking about the ASAv. The ASAv is a completely different appliance with almost all functionality of a real physical ASA appliance. Cisco just EOL'd the ASA 1000V because the ASAv supercedes it in every way. And UldisD is correct.. the 8.4(2) image provided by DaveGuy supports multiple interfaces... I've used up to 8 of them without any difficulties. U:H
  16. Make sure you are using Intel E1000E virtual NICS... ethernetx.virtualDev = "e1000e" in the .vmx file U:H
  17. I've never done this... I run IPS under ESXi... but you could probably create loopback interfaces on your host and then bind the IPS sensor interfaces to each loopback. Then, from GNS3, you could probably link your topology to these loopback interfaces. [Hidden Content] U:H
