  11. From July 25, 2016 and beyond CCIE Written v5.1 will be taking place. There are major changes coming happening this update. New syllabus include Evolving Technologies This has 10% of the total marks allocation. While there are many book and videos related to these topics are already available there are very few specially designed keeping CCIE in mind. Vendors like INE, CBT, IPExpert and others may take time to publish the recommended reading. The syllabus of LAB however remains the same. It is to be expected that the the topology might change. 1.0 Network Principles................10% Unchanged 2.0 Layer 2 Technologies............15% 13% 3.0 Layer 3 Technologies............40% 37% 4.0 VPN Technologies..................15% 13% 5.0 Infrastructure Security...........5% Unchanged 6.0 Infrastructure Services.........12% 15% 7.0 Evolving Technologies..........10% New 7.1 Cloud 7.2 Network programmability (SDN) 7.3 Internet of Things Recommendation from the experts: Cisco RS has been almost the same for more than a decade introducing Evolving technologies will help aspirants to know about the topics most talked about. This is help new CCIE to understand and get into these specialization. One gets to understand many things about Open platform, programming and Automation which in uncommon for people with Networking experience. These topics are storming the industries and the demand is expected to grow much higher. If someone is not ready to give the CCIE Written by July 25 it is recommended to go for v5.1. If you or your company has some experience in these domains v5.1 is for you. If v5.1 fascinates you and you need an upper hand over your colleague v5.1 is the right choice. The flip-side ,however, is one may have to read though new topics which is specialization in itself. This might include going out of one's comfort zone. One has to understand these completely new technologies. This might include reading and understanding Software/Programs/Automation. This is difficult for many veteran Networking experts (who in many cases entered Networking to avoid Programming) So which side are you on? More information is provided in the Cisco Netflow.
