  3. Hey All, i know they're are a ton of forums on Google helping people fix their problems with GNS3 but i cannot seem to get mine working. I am not new to the program I have previously used the program at home and everything on my home pc works like a charm at the moment i am attempting to run it on my work pc which is running windows 7/x64bit/i5-3470 . Once one problem is resolved i seem to hit another this most recent problem is where i am now stuck and cannot figure out or find a workaround thus far. Errors: After importing the IOS and decompressing the IOS i am unable to auto calculate the idle pc. i avoid this and click save anyhow dragging the router icon over to the GNS whiteboard it comes up as stopped.   6. Hello everyone! I am new here and so I would request everyone to help me out and keep it simple. I have recently downloaded GNS3 1.3.11 for CCNA Exam. To get the complete feel of a lab environment I downloaded all the router images and was feeling comfortable with GNS3. Just when I wanted to add a host (PC) in GNS3 I encountered a big problem. Someone told me that QEMU would resolve your problem and you would be able to get a command prompt as in a normal PC and work you way up. I tried downloading many images but it kept me giving a blank command prompt. I am a Windows user and I don't have any experience of Linux so I would like to run the pc from GNS3 in Windows and not in any Virtual machine. Can anyone help/guide me in setting up QEMU Host? Thanks in advance.

  8. Hii..I have done Qemu host configuration in GNS3 as shown in attached snapshots..but when I am trying to drag Qemu host , it is showing error "206- Not able to create Qemu instance" . I tried "linux-microcore-2.10" img and "linux-tinycore-3.8.2" image..tried different RAM size but getting same error. I am running GNS3 on windows 7 PC. Help appreciated..

  11. Hi Guys, I am struggling in trying to setup the IOU topology with XR routers. Can you please help me with this . I am unable to load the consoles . I have also tried the setup with gns3 topology provided by Sanjana and tried to use XR routers in GNS3 but the Xr routers aren't pinging each other even with the cdp neighbors visible. Another thing I want to confirm is that the diagram in sanjana lab is having different placement of routers in GNS3 compared to lab 2 diagram . Will this impact at all.

  14. Hi guys, could anyone please share the GNS3 net files for TS3 and TS4, but with fully injected errors please. I had a couple of compilations by now, however most of the questions were either resolved or partly resolved, which unfortunatelly not any helpful for the TS practice - I'm not keen just memorizing the configrations.     Cisco IOU

    Cisco IOU is great. But, how to make use of it? I tried many guides like [Hidden Content] Some recommend -Asasel IOU- Still I cannot get Putty telnet to IOU via VMWare. When googled to seek for a solution to this problem, I found the same problems everyware, but no direct answers. Could you please discuss the baby steps to get IOU working? It will be helpful for us to simulate many devices with less resource utilization, and to practice the TS section.   17. Guys... I am trying to practice the Active / Standby failover scenario in GNS3. Every time when I try to configure standby address on the interface it gives me following error message... "Cannot configure standby IP address because this unit lack failover license support." When I looked into the "licensing" part, it said the Failover license is "disabled". May I know how to enable it? Any one please help... I am running version 8.4 (2) on ASA 5520...
  18. Hi Everyone, I am trying to work on the lab portion to have Stateful Failover between router pairs, and am having a hard time finding the right router images to use in GNS3. Most routers don't seem to have the "redundancy inter-connect" command available... Any ideas? Thanks, Ayaz

I am posting this to hopefully save other people the issues I had with one of the GNS3 labs that I was doing for the CCNP ROUTE CBT Nuggets I downloaded all of the labs that are used as part of the CBT Nuggets training, and several of them would not work. I kept getting errors of "the switchport does not exist" Here is a quick copy and paste of an example: *** Warning: Connecting SW1 port 4 to access 1 resulted in: the switchport does not exist I found the solution was in the actual .NET file. If you right click on the GNS lab and click "EDIT network file" you will open up the .NET file in text. In there you will see the switch defined, along with its corresponding switchport allocations. In the case of "LAB #11 OSPF Basic Implementation" I found the following: [[ETHSW SW1]] 1 = access 1 2 = access 1 3 = access 1 x = -216.5 y = -129.0 The port allocations have not been correctly defined. If you have a look at the routers in the file, they will have correct port connections identified. Using this, I updated the file as follows: [[ETHSW SW1]] 1 = access 1 R3 fa0/0 2 = access 1 R2 fa0/0 3 = access 1 R1 fa0/0 x = -216.5 y = -129.0 This worked, and sorted out my problem. As a side note, you may also find that GNS3 cannot find the IOS image you are using. If you see this defined within the .NET file: Y:\Cisco Software\Cisco IOS Images\Cisco 2691\c2691-entservicesk9-mz.124-25c.bin.unpacked Update it (copy/find/replace) with the actual IOS location as you have specified in your GNS3 settings

Anyway, it would be great if one of you gurus could set this up in IOU. I still haven't used IOU (I have a PHY lab which GNS3 has complemented well so far)
