  2. Lynda - Up and Running with VMware NSX (2020) Software-defined networking is the next "big thing" in IT virtualization, and being able to administer an SDN will be a key skill for any IT professional. NSX is VMware's SDN platform, and this course will show how to get it up and running. VMware Certified Instructor Bill Ferguson covers the basics of NSX (including NSX components) and techniques for creating a software-defined data center. He shows how to configure a controller cluster, prepare hosts for VXLAN networking, and configure logical switches and distributed routers. Later in the course, Bill configures static and OSPF routing, load balancing, and a simple VPN, as well as high availability with NSX Edge. By the end of the training, viewers should be able to use NSX on top of their existing network resources to improve performance, deploy services, and increase security—without any additional hardware. Topics include: Overview of virtual networks and NSX components Configuring controller clusters, logical switches, and distributed routers Following packet flow with a DLR Understanding Layer 2 bridging Configuring static and OSPF routing Understanding SNAT and DNAT Configuring load balancing Configuring high availability on NSX Edge [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]] [hide][Hidden Content]]
  3. Mastering VMware NSX for vSphere (2020) Elver Sena Sosa, "Mastering VMware NSX for vSphere" English | ISBN: 1119513545 | 2020 | 320 pages | PDF | 16 MB DESCRIPTION A clear, comprehensive guide to VMware’s latest virtualization solution Mastering VMware NSX for vSphere is the ultimate guide to VMware’s network security virtualization platform. Written by a rock star in the VMware community, this book offers invaluable guidance and crucial reference for every facet of NSX, with clear explanations that go far beyond the public documentation. Coverage includes NSX architecture, controllers, and edges; preparation and deployment; logical switches; VLANS and VXLANS; logical routers; virtualization; edge network services; firewall security; and much more to help you take full advantage of the platform’s many features. More and more organizations are recognizing both the need for stronger network security and the powerful solution that is NSX; usage has doubled in the past year alone, and that trend is projected to grow—and these organizations need qualified professionals who know how to work effectively with the NSX platform. This book covers everything you need to know to exploit the platform’s full functionality so you can: Step up security at the application level Automate security and networking services Streamline infrastructure for better continuity Improve compliance by isolating systems that handle sensitive data VMware’s NSX provides advanced security tools at a lower cost than traditional networking. As server virtualization has already become a de facto standard in many circles, network virtualization will follow quickly—and NSX positions VMware in the lead the way vSphere won the servers. NSX allows you to boost security at a granular level, streamline compliance, and build a more robust defense against the sort of problems that make headlines. Mastering VMware NSX for vSphere helps you get up to speed quickly and put this powerful platform to work for your organization. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Elver Sena Sosa is a data center solutions architect with 20 years' networking experience. He is the author of two VMWare Press VCP certification books, holds VCDX-NV and VCI certifications from VMWare, and he is a frequent speaker and blogger well known in the VMware community. 5. Hello Peoples, I am trying to find out what I need to build a home lab for VMware NSX. Key things I need are: 1. Very limited space, so lab must be small as possible, within reason. 2. 2x Physical Hosts. 3. Aiming for 24GB to 32GB of RAM per host. 4. Systems will need to be very quite, so as silent as possible. 5. Not sure which switch I should get to connect this all together. 6. Have Synology DS713+ which supports VMware, not in use, separate budget for HDDs / SSDs. Will be connected via LACP. Can someone get me started by recommending some hardware? For Storage I will be using SSDs, not sure what ones yet but dont need large size ones. Open to suggestions. Budget is set at £1000 but can increase it slightly if needed. I new to the VMware world so open to suggestions and advice. Thank you very much and please be nice, L
