I saw some posts and links where says its with initial configs but after uploading to UNL there is nothing overthere. May be I do something wrong? Please, advice or share any useful link for that. Good luck for getting numbers to everyone!

  7. Hello, guys. Regarding New TS Ticket 10 (Telnet from NAS to Server2, NAT ticket). Previously I wrote in my feedback that in order to match the required ouput, R25 should translate outside source to its local loopback. After numerous requests, I prepared a lab to demonstrate the concept. You can find it attached to post. Here are the details on NAT translations: When NAS (192.168.1.xxx) is telnetting to Server2 (Real IP is 10.2.100.100, but the ticket requires to telnet to R25's WAN IP) it is going to 10.99.25.xxx (R25's WAN IP), so passing through R70 it is NATted (192.168.1.xxx -> 10.99.25.xxx). After arriving at R25 telnet packet is first NATted via "nat inside" translation (destination 10.99.25.xxx -> 10.2.200.100), then via "nat outside" translation (source 10.99.70.xxx -> 10.70.25.xxx). Issue, that Minh Khoi pointed out for me, is that in this case R25 will drop the returning traffic. Here are the details of traffic path and NAT translations. (telnet SYN Packet) NAS -> R70 IP.src = 192.168.1.2, IP.dst = 10.99.25.2 R70 -> ISP2 -> R25 IP.src = 10.99.70.2, IP.dst = 10.99.25.2 R25 -> SW210 -> Server2 IP.src = 10.25.70.1, IP.dst = 10.2.200.100 (telnet SYN ACK Packet) Server2 -> SW210 -> R25 IP.src = 10.2.200.100, IP.dst = 10.25.70.1 R25 -> drop The reason for this is that when going from inside –> outside, routing is always done FIRST, followed by NAT. And because R25 has directly connected loopback with IP 10.25.70.1, it decides that SYN ACK packet is destined for R25 itself and resets the connection. As I stated in my feedback, I managed to solve the ticket (match the required output) by adding "ip nat outside source" command. So there are two possibilities: If R25 does not have a loopback with IP 10.25.70.1, then the concept stated above is true. In the attached lab file, you can check this. Maybe, I was wrong and there were no loopbacks on R25 other than L0, and I misled you all because I thought that all this will work only in case R25 has such loopback configured. If R25 does have a loopback with IP 10.25.70.1, there were other config lines that make such concept possible, but unfortunately I could not find a way to make it work. If anyone would be able to find a solution in this case, please share here your opinion. [Hidden Content]

  20. Hello All ; this is the approach that I am going to use to solve the BGP question in MSDP , is this good ; I am sure i am missing something here and there and would appreciate the comments. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Problem: R28 must see two next hop's with the network 1.100.100.100 (R1's Loopback) within the BGP table and R28 should prefer R26 (R7) as the preferred exit point. Restrictions: Not allowed to configure anything within AS 100 or AS 300. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 - On R8; show ip bgp 1.100.100.100 Ok R28 has only one route, where did it come from? (say R26) 2a- Now Check the most obvious faults (There may be a restriction not to modify the devices in AS 300 and AS 100 – so please find out first what is the question…)- BUT if there is no restriction , make sure I. local preference on R26 & R27 is the same II. R27 Maxas-limit ; if its present and is 1 ; change it to 5 - show run | s r b 2b) No synchronization on R8 ipv4 address-family - but it could be on any other router - so check all the routers - show run | s r b 3- Now check on R28 if the neighbours with R26 / R27 is good - it should not be active or never/idle - show ip bgp summary - show ip bgp 1.100.100.100 - Show run | s r b - Show run | s route-map o Check Why R26 isn't receiving it from R7? is there something wrong with R7? o Check Why R27 isn't receiving it from R8? is there something wrong with R8? · On R7 Check the route-map MED defined within the bgp ipv4 address family; Fix this by changing the MED to 99 · on R7 there is an as-path ip-access-list 2 deny - change it to permit · on R7 route-map MED - set community none ( You can do this also on R6) and ensure it is also set to 99 4- Check BGP configuration on R26 / R27 Extension of step 2 but more in-depth - Is next hop self for R28 defined correctly on R27 ? - show ip bgp summary - to see if the neighbors with R7/R8 and R28 are good. - show ip bgp 1.100.100.100 - to see if the routes have been received from R7/ R8 - show ip bgp neigh x.x.x.x advertised-routes - check if R26 / R27 is advertising the routes to R28 5- if any neigh (R6/R7)is active or never/idle – - sh run | s r b Is next hop self for R7 defined on R6 ? Mostly this question is about misconfiguration or wrong route-map /MED After any changes make sure you - Clear ip bgp * soft You may also need to do a hard clear - Clear ip bgp * when you remove the route-map on R7 ( is that correct ?)
